向 + Direction/Person + Verb: 向 marks direction toward a person, place, or side. It often sounds a little more formal than 往.
向 means 'toward' and is used with direction words or targets: 向前走, 向右看, 向老师问好. It can describe movement, looking, speaking, or greeting toward someone. 往 is very common with physical movement directions, especially in directions: 往左走. 向 can be broader and slightly more formal.
