Explication

引起 focuses on triggering a reaction or response. It can be neutral, positive, or negative, depending on the object. It is especially natural with attention, interest, discussion, worry, misunderstanding, or physical problems. Compared with 导致, 引起 is less limited to negative consequences and often emphasizes the reaction that is stirred up.
