由于 A 而 B means “because of A, B.” It is formal and often used in reports or explanations.

Explication

由于 introduces a cause, and 而 can connect the resulting action or effect. In many sentences 而 may be omitted, but it is useful when the cause-result relation needs to be explicit. Compared with 因...而..., 由于... is more flexible and can introduce longer reasons; 因...而... is more concise and written.

Erreurs courantes

Using 幸亏 when no fortunate avoidance is meant.Use 由于 for neutral or negative formal causes.
Adding 所以 after 由于 unnecessarily in formal writing.由于 already introduces the cause; use a clean result clause.

Notes d'usage

More formal than 因为.
Often used with delays, changes, influence, notices, and reports.
而 can be used to link the result but is not always required.
