诚然...但是... means “it is true that..., but....” It is formal and often used in essays or serious discussion.

Explication

诚然 is used to honestly acknowledge a point before limiting it or presenting another view. It is more solemn than 固然 and often appears sentence-initial. Avoid mixing it with 所以, because the second part is not a consequence but a counterpoint.

Erreurs courantes

Using 所以 after 诚然.Use 但是/然而 for the contrasting part.
