越是...越... is a strengthened form of 越...越.... 越是 often appears before nouns, noun phrases, or situations, such as 困难的时候 or 重要的考试. The second 越 introduces the increasing response, result, or requirement. Do not omit the second 越. Compared with 越...越..., 越是...越... is often used for emphasis and advice.
