除非 A，否则 B means “unless A, otherwise B.” A is the exception to the normal result B.

除非 introduces the condition that can change the result. 否则 introduces what will happen if that exception is not met. This pattern is common in rules, warnings, and requirements. Do not use 所以 after 除非. Compared with 如果不..., 除非...否则... sounds more formal and highlights the exception more strongly.

Kesilapan Lazim

Using 所以 instead of 否则: 除非下雨，所以比赛继续。Use 否则 for “otherwise”: 除非下雨，否则比赛继续。
Forgetting that A is the exception.B is what happens when A is not true.

Common in rules: 除非..., 否则不能....
否则 may be replaced by 不然 in spoken Chinese.
