Resumo da lição
Formula: Modifier + 的 + noun (adjective/pronoun + 的 + noun); Adverb + 地 + verb (adjective/adverb + 地 + verb). Meaning: 的 describes WHAT the noun is like; 地 describes HOW the action is done. Both are pronounced 'de' but cannot be swapped. Model sentences: 这是我的书。/ 他有漂亮的眼睛。/ 她高兴地说话。 Key rule: after 的 → noun; after 地 → verb.
的 and 地 are structural particles — both are written differently but pronounced the same (neutral tone 'de'). Knowing which to write is a key Chinese literacy skill.
的 (de) — Attributive particle (定语标志): Links a modifier to a NOUN. The modifier can be a pronoun, adjective, or noun phrase. Formula: Modifier + 的 + Noun 我的书 (my book), 漂亮的花 (beautiful flower), 老师的办公室 (teacher's office)
地 (de) — Adverbial particle (状语标志): Links an adverb or adjective to a VERB. It marks how an action is done. Formula: Adverb/Adjective + 地 + Verb 高兴地唱歌 (sing happily), 认真地学习 (study seriously), 慢慢地走 (walk slowly)
Memory hack: - 的 + noun: think 'WHAT kind of noun' - 地 + verb: think 'HOW the action is done'
When NOT to confuse them: 她高兴的说话 → 她高兴地说话 (高兴 modifies the verb 说话 → use 地) 我的去学校 → 我去学校 (no particle needed between pronoun and verb)
Note: At HSK 1, 的 appears far more frequently. 地 starts appearing more at HSK 2–3. Master 的 first.
Estrutura gramatical
Attributive + 的 + noun; adverbial + 地 + verb
的 links a modifier to a noun (shows ownership, description). 地 links an adverb/adjective to a verb (shows how the action is done).
这是我的书。
Zhè shì wǒ de shū.
This is my book.
他有一双漂亮的眼睛。
Tā yǒu yī shuāng piàoliang de yǎnjīng.
He has beautiful eyes.
高兴 modifies the verb 说话 (how she speaks), so use 地 (adverbial particle), not 的 (attributive particle).
Do not insert 的 between a pronoun subject and a verb. 的 marks noun phrases — it cannot connect a pronoun to a verb.
Complete a lacuna:
Tā gāoxìng de shuōhuà.
She speaks happily.
慢慢 is an adverb modifying the verb 走 (how you walk), so use 地 not 的. This is a very common error in informal writing.
