不得不 means “have no choice but to.” It shows pressure from the situation, not personal willingness.

Use 不得不 before a verb phrase when someone is forced by time, rules, facts, or circumstances to do something. It is stronger than 必须 because it often suggests reluctance or lack of choice. Do not confuse it with 不免 or 难免, which describe unavoidable feelings or results, not required actions.
