面对 means “face” or “when faced with.” It introduces the problem or situation before saying how someone responds.

面对 can be used as a verb or as a preposition-like phrase at the beginning of a sentence. It is often followed by a challenge, problem, change, choice, or person. Do not confuse it with 见面, which means “meet.” After 面对 A, the next clause usually gives an attitude, action, or response.

Kesalahan Umum

Confusing 面对 with 见面: 我明天面对朋友。For meeting a friend, say 我明天见朋友. 面对 means face/deal with.
Forgetting the response clause: 面对困难。Usually add what happens next: 面对困难，我们不能放弃。

Catatan Penggunaan

Common objects: 困难, 问题, 选择, 变化, 挑战.
The second clause often states an attitude or action.
It sounds stronger and more serious than 遇到.
