课程摘要
比 means 'more than' and is used to compare two things. Put A before 比, B after it, and then the adjective that describes how A differs from B. Formula: A 比 B + adjective.
比 is the key word for making comparisons in Chinese. The structure is simple but different from English — the adjective comes LAST, after both things being compared.
Structure: A + 比 + B + adjective 我比他高。(I am taller than him.) — A=我, B=他, adj=高 今天比昨天热。(Today is hotter than yesterday.) — A=今天, B=昨天, adj=热
Key rules: 1. NEVER use 更 or 很 directly after 比: 我比他很高 → 我比他高 2. NEVER use 比 twice in one comparison: 我比他比高 → 我比他高 3. To say 'much more', you CAN add 多了/得多 after the adjective: 他比我高多了。(He is much taller than me.)
Negation — 'not as … as': Use 没有 instead of 比 for negative comparison: A + 没有 + B + 那么/这么 + adjective 我没有他高。(I am not as tall as him.) OR 我没他高。
When NOT to use 比: - To say two things are EQUAL, use 一样: 他跟我一样高。(He is as tall as me.) - 比 always means A IS more/better than B, not equal.
