Memory hack: - 的 + noun: think 'WHAT kind of noun' - 地 + verb: think 'HOW the action is done'
When NOT to confuse them: 她高兴的说话 → 她高兴地说话 (高兴 modifies the verb 说话 → use 地) 我的去学校 → 我去学校 (no particle needed between pronoun and verb)
Note: At HSK 1, 的 appears far more frequently. 地 starts appearing more at HSK 2–3. Master 的 first.
