课程摘要
A verbal-predicate sentence (动词谓语句) uses a verb or verb phrase as the core predicate. It is the most common sentence type in Chinese, and it tells who does what. The basic formula is: Subject + Verb (+ Object).
The verbal-predicate sentence (动词谓语句) is the backbone of Chinese. Almost every action sentence follows this structure: Subject + Verb + Object.
Key features: 1. The verb comes directly after the subject — no 'to be' needed before action verbs. Chinese says 他去学校, NOT 他是去学校. 2. Objects come AFTER the verb: 我买面包 (I buy bread). Never put the object before the verb. 3. Negation (不/没) comes right before the verb: 他不去医院 (He doesn't go to the hospital), 我没吃早饭 (I didn't eat breakfast). 4. Time words come before the verb: 我下午买面包, not 我买面包下午. 5. If there's no object, the verb can stand alone: 老师来了 (The teacher came).
When NOT to use this structure: - For descriptions (he is tall), use adjectival-predicate sentences (他很高). - For identity (she is a teacher), use 是-sentences (她是老师). - Do NOT add 是 before action verbs: 我是吃饭 is wrong. Say 我吃饭.
Tip: Once you know Subject + Verb + Object, you can build nearly any basic sentence in Chinese by just swapping the subject, verb, or object.
