课程摘要
An exclamatory sentence expresses a strong emotion — surprise, admiration, or delight. The most common patterns are 太 + adjective + 了! and 真 + adjective! Both end with an exclamation mark and show feeling that goes beyond a simple statement.
The exclamatory sentence (感叹句) lets you show that you feel strongly about something — it is not just a neutral description. Chinese has two key exclamatory patterns at HSK 1:
1. 太 + adjective + 了! — 太 means 'too' or 'so/extremely.' The 了 at the end is required and signals heightened emotion. Example: 今天太热了!(It's so hot today!), 这个菜太好吃了!(This dish is amazing!)
2. 真 + adjective! — 真 means 'really/truly.' Unlike 太...了, 了 is NOT required here. Example: 你的衣服真漂亮!(Your clothes are really beautiful!), 这里的风景真好看!(The scenery here is really beautiful!)
Key difference: 太...了 carries a slight sense of 'too much' — it can be positive or negative. 真... is always positive or admiring.
When NOT to use: Do not use 很 in exclamatory sentences. 很 is neutral and does not express strong emotion. 他很高 = 'He is tall' (neutral). 他真高! = 'He is SO tall!' (exclamatory).
Do not forget 了 after 太. 今天太热!sounds incomplete. The correct form is 今天太热了!
