都 means “all/both” and covers every person or thing already mentioned. 一起 and 一块儿 mean “together” and show that people do the same action as a group.

This grammar point covers two very common adverb types. 都 is a scope adverb: it includes all people or things in the subject/topic. It usually comes after the subject and before the predicate: 我们都在家, 这些书都很好. It can mean “all” for three or more items and “both” for two items.
一起 and 一块儿 are joint-action adverbs. They show that two or more people do one action together: 我们一起去学校, 我和朋友一块儿吃饭. 一块儿 is a little more colloquial; 一起 is neutral and very common.
Key contrast: 都 answers “Who is included?” 一起 answers “Do they do the action together?” 我们都在家 means everyone is at home, but not necessarily doing the same activity. 我们一起回家 means we go home together.
When not to use: Do not put 都 at the end of the sentence. Do not use 一起 for a single person unless another participant is understood. Do not use 一起 for static states like 在家 or 是学生; use 都 if you mean “all are in that state.”

Structure grammaticale
都 normally goes after the subject/topic and before the predicate. It does not go at the end of the sentence.
一起 means doing something together. A single-person subject needs another participant, such as 我和朋友 or 我们.
